Empowering Girls in Western Kenya
During a three-month residential programme, they gain hands-on training in leadership, coding, green energy, and personal growth. Reproductive health and teen pregnancy awareness are core elements of the course. The students also grow their own food and learn about sustainable farming and agri-business skills.
Since launch, the programme has reached over 400 girls, offering not just education, but real pathways to independence. In 2025, PFGAF is running four cohorts annually, each welcoming around 70 young women. Applications pour in from across the region, so PFGAF works with a waiting list. To keep the program accessible, it provides travel support, temporary housing, and AFRIpads for menstrual health.
At the first graduation in August 2024, students showcased projects like an e-health platform connecting rural patients with doctors. Many have since landed IT traineeships, started university, or joined green startups.
In partnership with Rhiza, PFGAF is currently working on mobile health services in Busia – bringing vital medical care to the communities living in this area.
Thanks to growing momentum, strong collaborations & a new funding partner on board in early 2025, PFGAF is set to expand its reach even further and continue their beautiful work.
