De Boomgaard Foundation was established on May 12, 2005 as a private grant-giving foundation.
The founders are two philanthropists who wish to support youth and children, initiatives to advance climate justice and local heritage and innovations. The foundation is partnering with ambitious charities or non-for profit organisations. It was ranked as public benefit organisation (ANBI) and can make and receive tax-free donations.

The island of Pampus is part of the 19th century waterline defense of Amsterdam. In 1996 it became a UNESCO world heritage site. The Fort Island Pampus Foundation, responsible for preserving the heritage, is developing Pampus into a fully climate neutral and educational island. Foundation De Boomgaard helped in funding a hypermodern renewable energy system and a sustainable built classroom.
Network New Rotterdam helps young vulnerable people who struggle with loneliness mental health issues or simply finding their space in the city. Participants gain self-awareness and solidarity by volunteering in their quest for connecting all layers of the Rotterdam society.
