Together they write fiction that brings the climate crisis to life for young readers – not through fear, but through imagination and hope. Their anthology Hoopvolle verhalen (Hopeful Stories) was followed by Kwallen in de brievenbus (Jellyfish in the Letterbox), a collection for primary school children published in 2026. Alongside their books, they develop educational materials and give readings in schools, helping children engage with one of the defining questions of their generation. They also aim to organize their first big writing competition, inviting children to write their own climate stories: a way to spark curiosity, creativity and a critical eye all at once.
De Boomgaard supports Schrijvers voor Toekomst because good stories matter. They shape how children see the world and what they believe is possible. We also strongly believe that children should be part of the climate conversations and see the writing competition as a beautiful & creative way of amplifying their voices.
