CSD Foundation

The CSD Foundation focuses on improving the living conditions of people in Cape Verde through 'local entrepreneurship', 'education', and 'sustainable tourism'. With the project Sinti bo Felisidadi, a photo competition and exhibition, the foundation contributes to the preservation of art and culture on the island of Sal, and provides income for young ambitious photographers.

A local photographer’s competition and exhibition

There is a lot of room for private initiative in Sal, the island thrives on this. The photo competition and exhibition in October 2023 stimulated the creativity of local photographers. They only earn some income by photographing tourist excursions, which is limited in the low season, and less creative.

The funds have been used for: the location for the awards ceremony and exhibition, composing the jury, local PR and paying for prizes. By designing and printing birthday calendars and postcards that can be sold to tourists, the income of the photographers can become more solid.
