Ms Mairi Claire Bowser, finalist of PPL Green Challenge 2014, got an internship with Fashion Positive in the US understand how to reduce waste and provide carbon management in the film industry sets in Scotland.

Ms Mairi Claire Bowser, finalist of PPL Green Challenge 2014, got an internship with Fashion Positive in the US understand how to reduce waste and provide carbon management in the film industry sets in Scotland. From ‘Fashion Positive’ she learned which concepts could work in the film industry.

She learned how Fashion Positive provides accreditation for five key areas of waste reduction and carbon management in; material health, material reutilisation, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship and social fairness.

She made connections to use these ideas in set design and management in the film industry. She attended U.S. Corporate Citizenship 2015 Sustainability Forum, with feature film funders and ‘Disney’ amongst others.

In the film industry there appears to be a world to win to find the right business case for a circular economy, and emerging trends for the circular economy, from global leaders in sustainability, including Dame Ellen MacArthur and William McDonough.
