Tergooi MC has recently completed the greenest hospital in the Netherlands for the region ‘Gooi- en Vechstreek’. Tergooi MC wants to bring nature to and into the hospital. Foundation De Boomgaard shares the view that a ‘green hospital’ immensely contributes to healing processes and has funded one of the 6 patio gardens. Fruit trees have been included.

A healing patio garden in ‘green hospital’ Tergooi

At Tergooi MC, Hilversum, visitors can now take a nice calming walk around the hospital or wait for an appointment in one of the accessible patio gardens. Along with these gardens, there are also green roofs set up in the hospital.

Tergooi MC is located in the ‘Utrechtse Heuvelrug’. Its landscape is characterized by three types of nature: forest only, mixed forest, sand, heath and pine. These natural elements form the environment in the patios. As a symbol and token of strength in healing, a very resilient apple tree (the Elstar) has been planted in the garden.
