A Nursepreneur clinic in Soshanguve township - EUR 50.000 (17 November 2023)

In South Africa, most people in townships have little access to good healthcare. They are faced with gender based violence (51% of females) long infections (causing 15-28% of infant mortality), HIV and frequent electricity outages. Government clinics hardly are trusted because of long lines and poor quality of care. However, avoidance of care increases both health problems and healthcare costs at a later stage. Rhiza aims to make quality care accessible via community clinics and mobile clinics.

A self-reliant clinic is set up in Soshanguve in accordance with Rhiza’s Nursepreneur model in which clinics must function independently after 18 months. Solar panels reduce dependency on public electricity provision. Self-reliance is achieved by innovative partnerships with Phillips Department of Health and patient contributions.
